That's Zhu Zhu on the right, arms up, with the giant peace dove we built for the Children's Peace Dove Parade at Tacoma Sister Cities' International Day of Peace (Sept 19, 2026). A special thanks to Zhu Zhu: she taught us how to make the official Jane Goodall Roots & Shoots Giant Peace Dove puppets — the same doves that fly at Olympia's Procession of the Species, one of the community-arts traditions our Illuminated Star grew out of. Everything we know about giant doves, we learned in her living room. See the dove fly in the Peace Day program.

Traditions has hosted live music since the beginning — folk, jazz manouche, world and roots acts in a room where the crowd came to listen. There's always a student/low-income ticket option (and most people still pay full price, because they know where the money goes). Call (360) 705-2819 for tickets, dinner reservations or to join the monthly events email.
Rent the room. The Gathering Place is available for birthday and retirement parties, meetings, benefits, pop-ups, workshops and recitals — a couple of hours or several days, with a view of the Capitol. Rentals keep the community space open for the concerts. "Thank you for being a part of Olympia's living room for all of these years." — Zhu Zhu & the Traditions crew
